"drift" was largely based on the landscapes around Mparntwe - Alice Springs in the Central Australian Desert region.

I have returned and painted this area over and over again, since first visiting Central Australia in 2001.

The native Spinifex grass around this area has been replaced by Buffel Grass - introduced as cattle feed some time ago, it has spread and displaced the local flora and fauna, resulting in an estimated biodiversity loss of 95% in the greater Alice Springs region.

I have tried to make these paintings as silent as possible...where there is no wildlife, there is only silence remaining.

Also featured in the show were two paintings revisiting the the Tibooburra theme from 2008 - Patterson's curse and Salvation Jane are two names for the same noxious weed introduced to Australia and spreading ever since.

Exhibited in Melbourne at Jackman Gallery in 2015/16.
